Why does the memory slow down to 333mhz when 4 DIMMs are used.

Have a question, did a search but could not find anything really answering it, so here goes

Why does memory slow down on the Abit AV8 mobo when 4 DIMM slots are used.

And secondly, will using single sided RAM on the 4 slots make it run at 400mhz?

1. Because it is too much memory traffic for the memory controller
2. Yes, with 4x single sided DIMMs you can stay at highest timings/speeds.

slaimus is right the intern memory controller of a64 cpus sux. u can only have 2 double sided rams running, if u use more slots with double siders it will slow down, single sided modules from corsair or twinmos and the german brand: MDT will work even with 4 slot use. they shouldnt be much more expensive. btw: on the other hand even if ram is running with 4000mhz and commandrate T2 or 333mhz and commandrate t1 instead of the ideal with single siders 4000mhz at commandrate T1...well even if memory runs slower when using double sided u wont loose that much of performance cuz badnwith still is rather high...i wish i had benchmarks but i dont think u loose speed remarkably though its not running at its best. hope u can follow 😉.
