Cause Mark McGrath is a rock'n'roll Jeopardy god.
My wife and I watch that over dinner most nights. We both despise him.Originally posted by: dwell

I hate Mark McGrath with a passion.
It's funny how he hosts Hollywood Extra now. I guess Sugar Ray broke up.

They have, what, 3 CD's or something? Most people only remember one, maybe 2 songs by them. They were pretty crappy, and now they're cashing in on the "Lets make a re-hash of all of our old music, so we can make more money" scene.

Maybe it's like the "Greatest Hits" that Sony does for the Playstation games. Where it's the same thing with an uglier cover but cheaper.![]()

Artists put out greatest hits/best of collections either to make money or fulfill contractural obligations. Artists with integrity frequently do the latter so they can change labels.

I actually blurted that out when I saw they had issued a "Greatest Hits" CD. The bf just gave me the standard "Do you have to mock every commercial" look.
Great minds think alike.
It seems that like every damn band/group is making a greatest hits CD. Some of them are OK, like the 311 GH, but the KoRn? to crappy remakes of Pink Floyd songs. I thought a band had to have a 10 year album history to make one too.
Their first album was released 10 years ago.
They've had 3 multi-platinum albums.
They've had 9 hits on the charts, so that's about enough to make a greatest hits album if that's what you want to do.
9 songs on the charts
203 weeks on the charts
On 16 different charts
Total of 844 days on the charts in all.
"Fly" was a #1 hit.
Not defending them, just the facts.
Sugar Ray's okay with me, but I generally think that you don't release a greatest hits album until the band is done. But it happens all the time, so what do I know?

They're up there with Goo Goo Dolls as the greatest sellout bands of all time. They both started with ultra punk music, and they both only made the airwaves with their pop singles, so they changed their music to sound like that.
I'm not saying I wouldn't do it to make millions, but I don't have to respect those fvcks.
WTF? Sugar Ray and the Goo Goo Dolls were ultra punk bands? Either I don't know much about the beginnings of these bands, or our views of "ultra punk music" greatly differ...

whether or not you like it is irrelevent when they only released like 4 singles in their entire lifespan.
