I think most CEOs will spin and lie about their competition. Just look at microsoft and sony's keynotes during E3 etc.

Saying that, Steve Jobs is not really known for being a nice guy. Didn't he deny being the father of his first child so she lived in poverty while he was already a multi-millionaire?

Why does Steve Job purposely lie at all his events?
To feed his army of disciples in the holy fight against Google & Microsoft.

That's at least the impression I get whenever I bother to read comments concerning tablets or smartphones.

LoL. Like MS, who had the cajones to lie to the federal government in a court of law, is innocent or free of guilt. Hell, lying in court is way worse than anything Jobs has ever done by. Oh, and Google always "lies" and tries to get you to spend more money on Google Adwords. And do a search about why Skyhook Wireless is suing Google. Or how Google has pulled Visual Voicemail for apparently violating Google's in-app payment rules. Specifically because Visual Voicemail doesn't use in-app payments for its services.

That's what I was referring to above.

I haven't heard every "lie" he's ever told. But I'm just going by the fact that since he's been back, some decent useful products have been coming out from Apple. That's good for me since there's more choices. Everyone seems to put a spin on things, it's part of marketing (but at least they can't lie about their products features without being sued). I take it with a grain of salt and just buy whatever I need or want at the time, it really doesn't matter that they "lie". Hell, even Google (don't be evil?), has done some shady stuff.
