Mainly for the name but every North Face product i've ever owned has been durable and lasted quite a long time.

I have a fleece North Face jacket that I bought in November of 2001, and I wear it at least 2 times a week. It's still good. :D

the Logo.q

I pay columbia for the same quality but it is at least 1/3 cheaper than TNF.

TNF hardwear (tents, packs, sleeping bags) are all still high quality products. Their prices and quality are not uncomparable to other high end companies such as Mountain Hardwear, Sierra Designs, Arcteryx, etc.

btw, columbia hardwear is pretty low-end.

A combination of quality and brand name. And the "my idea of roughing it is no cable TV" crowd popularity.

north face jackets used to be really good, but now, its worse (maybe do to high demand, using cheaper quality material now), still good though.

TNF has good technical gear, but so does Mountain Hardware, Arcteryx, and Marmout.

Patagonia also.

Mostly you get what you pay for IMO.

North Face rocks. They're durable and most of their procucts have great design and style.

you really can't compare Columbia to NF

My NF VE25 tent is twenty years old, used alot, and still hasn't worn out. My NF jacket is 19 years old and still water proof. For me the price was worth it.
