Why does newegg only ship cases and lcd monitors in their original boxes ?

Isn't this just looking to be damaged when you have a case or lcd monitor shipped in their original box ? Even if its not much larger than the original box it would still help if the weather gets rainy.

I think UPS/fedex only insure if they are shipped in the original packaging?

something like that.

arent things like cases and monitors drop-shipped? Like direct from manf/wholesaler, not from either of the newegg wharehouses.

That makes it even worst because you don't know what your shipping the customer. No wonder so many lcd monitors have dead pixels.

I would much rather they ship in the original designed-to-hold-that-particular-item-and protect-it-from-getting-damaged-in-transit packaging than to have them remove it from that packaging and stuff some fragile equipment in less than ideal box with bubble wrap. The original packaging is the most cost effective and does not void your warrenty - they have to ship it in that packaging to protect you, the consumer.

Dead pixels are manufacturing defects - it's not easy creating 1,310,720, (1280 x 1024 display resolution)or more, tiny little almost microscopic in size tri-color pixels, arranging them on a thin grid, and having every single pixel function flawlessly. Wherever you see bad pixels, they were there before they left the plant they were manufactured at.

I would as well. I don't want them to take the case or lcd monitor out the box at all. Just put in inside another packaging box in case the box its crushed, it rains, or the box tears any.

I don't know about you guys but UPS here insists that all items like that be double boxed yet they take them with no problems from resellers.

Life ain't fair.

You do know you can request such additional packaging for an additional fee. Try it next time you order - call the order in.

Well retailers give UPS big business. There not going to say no to a retailer no matter what.

You can? How much extra does it cost and I didn't think newegg allowed you to call your orders in ?

A reseller is probably shipping out hundreds/thousands of products per day or whatever their volume is - basically, much higher than the average person, and so they have standard policies and methods to make sure that things are packaged properly. Your average Joe probably can't even apply common sense, or at least it's not expected :p

There has only been one occasion when Newegg didn't double box my case. Every other time my case has been double boxed (case in its retail box and that placed in a padded brown box). The only LCD I've ever ordered from them was double boxed as well.

Interesting what Newegg warehouse did they come from?

Pretty much everything I've ordered has come from CA. I've received a couple from AZ, but the ones from TN usually get to me in pretty beat up condition. I ordered a video card once that was shipped from TN. The box was cut open like their box cutters sliced all the way through when they were taking them off the palette.
