why does my start menu button turn black

after playing a game, or starting up from suspend mpde, my start button turns black, it doesn't hurt the performance, but it is starting to bug me?

I'd suspect a video card driver issue. That used to happen to my family's home computer before I updated the drivers for the video card. Check out the manufacturer's website for your video card and download and install ther latest drivers. That should take care of the problem.
