I built a new system, and last night, then today, my registry corrupted for no real reason, and I had to do the recovery console thing....

System is not overclocked, ram isnt, cpu isnt, etc

2100+ XP
Crucial pc2100 256MB
MSI KT6 Delta

etc

What software have you installed - specifically what did you install just prior to the corruption?

It could also be a driver. You could do a diagnosis by unchecking all drivers in MSCONFIG and then rebooting. Then add them back one at a time until it fails.

Bad ram?

System shutting down too fast? (I seem to recall Win2k having a problem like this).

I agree with xcript, it could be bad RAM. Download memtest86, and run it. let us know if it detects bad RAM.
