I just got a Dell 8600 with a 15" widescreen at 1680 X 1050 and when I play a movie there are black bars on all four sides.
Is it because I have it set up incorrectly or because LCD can not resize like a CRT does?
Which DVD did you try? Black bars on 4 sides would suggest that the DVD is non-anamorphic and the DVD software is not zooming the picture properly. Still, you will almost always have black bars (of various sizes) in movie DVDs since virtually no movie uses an aspect ratio of 16:10.
