why does my new AMD Athlon 64 3000+ stutter in games?

anyone know why it would do that? here are the specs

WD 160gb 7200rpm
NEC 2500a DVDRW

Post 3.7 drivers (3.8 marked a major design shift) have been known to do this.
Switching to 3.7 will probably alieviate your problem...and cause about 50 more. But...that's ATI.

really, why do people post such useless information?

It's a well documented issue with SOME system configurations and cats 3.8 and above. See the catalyst known issues thread in rage3d's catalyst support forum for more details.
