Why does my 366 Mhz run faster than my 633 Mhz Machine (with same amount of RAM) ?

Yeah, they're both Emachines, and I know Emachines S*ck, but ...

I was running Win98 on the 366mhz

Running WinMe on the 633.

Would the OS make such a significant difference ?

<< considering that windowsME is a 500mb virus... YES >>

are you 12 or just stupid? my WinME machine is both stable and blazing - i'd never go back to 98/2k

Go into msconfig and switch some of that crud that WinMe has running. I bought an Inspiron 8000 laptop a couple of months ago w/1 gig proc and it didn't run much faster than my old P2-266 laptop while running WinMe. After turning off a whole bunch of the sh!t that WinMe/Dell had loading on it, it ran much better. I still diched WinMe though; I'm now running Win2K and I'm much happier with it. WinMe=extreme bloatware.

Go into the display properties and turn off animations. That is always worth a bump in reaction time. ;)
