Why does MS Office cost more than Win2K?

Win2K is just one program.

By Microsoft's reckoning, Office is made up of at least 6 programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, FrontPage, Outlook.

Two words: Star Office.

I just saved you 500 bucks, you can at least buy me something like a video card to thank me.

Imagine Office being cheaper than Win... everybody would raise hell because:
1. you need Win (and they suck you off because you need it)
2. Win is 1 Program, Office consists of 5-10???
...

Must be great to be an MS-hater

Um...why do people think Win2K is "one program" It's a whole bunch of programs, more than Office Professional has in it. AND IMHO, W2K is much more useful than a lot of Office.

You can't really get a free OS that does exactly what Windows 2000 does. Linux is getting there, but it's not quite there.

With office there's so many alternatives it's a wonder people buy MS stuff.

I'll support the Evil Empire until they fall to the even more Evil Empire--AOL.

(Besides, I can get Office for $25).

MasterHoss: Are you a student also? I can get Windows 2000 Pro or MS Office 2000 for $20 too. Thank god for MS licensing to schools for their students.

The Office suite is MS's cash cow .. and has been that way for many years. Windows is an OS (and not a program, at least eh NT-based versions) and only provide system services for programs to run on top.
