why does mercedes put autos in all their AMG's?

wouldnt they need some unwieldily clunky and harsh manual tranny drivetrain to handle all that power, too... their performance cars are high high high in torque

And thats why the AUTO mcalren slr is now the fastest lap car in the world, beating the mclaren f1 BAD, and many other exotics.

What does "fastest lap car in the world mean?" Just because the SLR laps faster in one track doesn't mean it will lap faster at every track. How do you know it beat the McLaren F1 bad? The McLaren F1 wasn't even timed on Top Gear.

Some of you dont even know what the McLaren F1 did to the LeMans 24 hours during its debut... there will probably be no other ROAD CAR that will dominate a field of dedicated race cars like it did.

I'm sorry, but Jeremy pretty much summed it up when he said, "The McLaren isn't even a dream car. You will never afford one."

Even still, the SLR and Koenigsegg keep up with or beat it on some tracks. And that SLR is just pimp. It goes 0-60 in 3.8s on top gear. While that's no Ram Air Viper Venom (come on guys, ATTACK ) it's pretty quick.

And probably more driveable in every day life. Not to mention more comfortable. And classier. And safer. Yup the 2.4s Viper is pretty much like a Bentley, but faster.

As already mentioned it beating a mclaren on one track doesn't mean it's going to everywhere. You can take a $30k EVO and smoke cars 5 times its cost in certain conditions as well.

Don't forget that the mclaren trumps the SLR not only in horsepower, but also in weight, by a LOT. The SLR can't get much above 200, while the Mclaren is still warming up

MB's are made for the autobahn, not the track. They are doing fine with the autos, and don't need a manual.
There is no need to feel that you masculinity is threatened by an automatic supercar.

AMG auto-trannies are the some of the best in the world. When you have near 500 ft/lbs torque on tap, having an auto is a blessing and it keeps AMG from having to replace clutches on their cars every 3000 miles.

I think you should reread your post. Mercedes does not make any "M" sports cars with sticks. Their M is an SUV.

I think you should reread your post. Mercedes does not make any "M" sports cars with sticks. Their M is an SUV.

I never said MB made M.
I said BMW does, they cater to old men, they have sticks ONLY in their M models.
