Why does it show two network connections?*PIC*

My setup is as simple as can be: one computer wired to a DSL modem through the MOBO's built in ethernet port.

So, why does my network connections show two things?

My internet works great, but I am curious because i am about to add a another NIC and dont want things to get complicated.

Just on a whim, though, does your motherboard have a built in Firewire port? That shows up in networking connections too.
