Why does hollywood insult our intelligence?

Why doesnt hollywood make smarter movies so the intelligent people can enjoy entertaining and enriching cinema and the '2 Fast 2 Retarded' crowd are forced to gain intelligence in order to enjoy it. Movies just keep getting more and more stupid...Its about time major film companies put out something that doesn't collect $200 million from the public and only gives us an experience equally attainable by playing xbox.

Anyone agree?

Stop posting stupid threads. They're called Indie/Independent films. No one wants to spend $9 to see a movie that challenges our intellect and the norms of society. Why aren't you intelligent enough to realize that? 😛

Because people are wanting to be entertained and not have to think.

Hollywood is about money. Appealing to the lowest common denominator is more likely to bring in the bucks. Sad? Yeah, but true.

Because they can and you'll buy it anyway. Who else here went to see Van Helsing, knowing full well beforehand that it would be one of the worst movies ever made? *raises hand*

I didn't go because I could tell from the trailer that it would suck. Trailers have gotten better in this respect.

there are tons of intelligent movies out there, just avoid the mainstream theater, or try something like netflix. you just have to search a little.

Faranheight 9/11: provacative thinking movie, no matter whose side you're on

Spiderman 2: Leaps and bounds more entertaining.

Where are you going to spend your 7 simoleans?

That's as good as: "Can you BELIEVE that HALF the students in this nation are below the national average on testing?! My gods, what has the nation come to!!!"

I go to movies for one main reason: to be entertained. Sometimes that means thought-provoking, sometimes that means mindless fun. You see, I want to escape the real world.

Well, the fact is that Hollywood does not insult our collective intelligence. Rather, they pander to it.

Because if all six intellegent people in the US went to the movie, they'd make a grand total of $40.

😉
