Why does germans always dub their english programs?

You were kidding, but you are right. IMO 75 % of my fellow citizens are not smart enough. On the other hand it works for smaller market like Denmark or Sweden. That's why most of the people there are pretty good @ English. BTW it's not only Germany but all the bigger markets in Europe like Italy, France aso. You'll have a hard time finding somebody to talk to. 😉

i concur. I just spend 2 months backpacking, and well i have several dozen relatives in Denmark. Watching TV in denmark is just like watching TV at home, they have pretty recent episodes and only native tv shows are in danish, everything else is English. thats why i was able to comummicate with my 14 year old cousin PERFECTLY in english, even what i would consider "obscure" slang or more difficult observational obscure humor was easily understood. However, talking to the same age group ANYWHERE ELSE in europe was impossible. Even at hte higher teens, 18,19,20 21 it was a bit more difficult. His older brother, 19, could speak english practically fluently, and quick. Ususally you have to speak a lil bit slower as they are usaully translating what you are saying in tehir head to hteir language to understand it.

Of course all the channels are subtitled at the bottom, but that is a perfect way to learn another language. In fact in the 2 weeks i was in Denmark, just watching a couple hours of TV a day and reading hte subtitles increased my vocabulary immensly

Same goes for the French, its all because they have the money to spend and want to preserve their native language. If you grow up with this then its normal, to everyone else its just plain weird, try watching Leathal Weapon in some other language than english.

I heard that its actually worse in Poland, then they have "ONE" guy who dubbes every character in every show or movie there is.

Yeah CZAR that's the problem. I have a hard time finding movies in English. THX to DVD and Premiereworld(Pay-TV, football, baseball, hockey with original commentators as an option) it's getting better.
