It's not like Joe Consumer is gonna buy a jet, only airlines buy jets, and airlines don't base decisions on network tv, so why does boeing advertise?

sorta, but not quite. They use deisels to turn generators to power electric motors.

But as far as I know they don't do regenerative breaking and don't carry batteries to store excess power.
