Why does G4TV have a tv show called the "Whip Set"?

Kind of like "The Real World" & other variety shows on "MTV" (Music Television) ? G4 & Comcast are garbage. They're just creating garbage shows (even though not related to tech) to the age demographic.
I still watch xplay...its still a good show.
Attack of the show inst bad sometimes either..except that new guy really sucks the big one. nothing like SS tho..not even close

G4 is terrible. The only thing decent on there is Attack of the Show, but you can tell it's getting worse since they've changed it. The Screensavers were better.

Yeah, G4 had become cruel joke of a television station. Things started going down hill as soon as Leo Laporte, Dan Patrick and Martin Sargent left, and now they probably have the WORST programming of any cable station. Even the really obscure channels like HGTV seem to have better content than them now.
I still watch a few minutes of CinemaTech now and then to see the CGI from all the console games I've missed, and X-Play is still worth watching. Attack of the Show isn't great but also isn't entirely worthless.
i had no idea that G4 used to be the ziffdavis/techtv station.
we had that by me in jersey with comcast when they first came on the air. they went through a couple names.
it was the best when it would be basically 24 hours of leo changing sets every half-hour, taking calls and fixing stuff.

When G4 bought TechTV and basically dismantled it, they canceled Martin Sargent's show and "retooled" the The Screen Savers into some brainless horror for the under 18 crowd. Although Leo and Dan were never offically fired, I think that they saw where the network was going and fled for the hills before they moved from the TechTV studio in San Francisco to the G4 one in LA.
Well, G4 basically sucks. AOTs totally blows... I mean come on, the tech stuff they talk about on the show is just really bad. The hosts seem to have close to 0 knowledge on anything and just seem to be fanboys. They don't really have the slightest clue about anything. However, some of the nontech stuff they say is alright I guess.
WTH is Cheat? Why in the world would someone watch a TV show of how to cheat in a game when they have the internet? I mean, who in the wolrd needs to have a long combination of butttons read to them? You actually think they would remember all that.
There are only a few good shows on the channel... Cinematech is awesome sometimes. I love watching the cutscenes. X-Play is pretty cool too. The reviews actually make sense and the hosts seem to know what they are talking about!! But the best show ever is Icons! I love it! The documentaries on various game designers/games are just great and is a joy to watch.
G4 has three really good shows right now.. I can't even begin to fathom why they needed to add the whipset to it. WTH DOES CARS HAVE TO DO WITH COMPUTERS? I honestly doubt that they are getting a rating boost from the whip set coz the programming is just atrocious... I tried watching it a couple of times but it was just too painful. I hope it dies and dies soon. They really need to focus on bringing more shows like X-play,Icons, and cinematech to the channel

Hahahaha, Comcast never had TechTV in my area, only way to get it was thru the dish. But i am a cable whore. I never got to watch it thru all those years of hearing my friends talk about how they loved it so much and i still could not get the station, then my cable company buys out TechTV and merged it with the lamest channel that they own and create a total sucktastic experience.

Icons is good, X-Play is still funny, AOTS kinda sucks but isn't worthless 100% of the time. I hate The Whip Set though, especially the show with the stupid Ludacris wanna be who acts like he knows sh1t about cars, your not funny and your not black, stop trying to be.
The idea was, take out the old people and nerds and replace them with cute (sometimes not so cute) girls and have them report on things they have 0 understanding of. Well it did work for CNN.
