Why does Firefox open twice?

On the main windows taskbar, I have an address toolbar. I also have Mozilla's firefox set as the default internet browser.

When I type an address into the toolbar it opens that site twice with firefox (two differrent windows).

However, when internet explorer is set as default browser, it only opens one IE window.

Any solution to this...not critical but just annoying?

THANKS

This appeared only recently with my install of Firefox, and I too have no clue as to why... I'm going to go cruzin' the registry in a few minutes.

It will be fixed for 1.0PR (the next planned release). Search the forum, this question has been asked dozens of times.

This happens to me when I click on a link in an Outlook email. It simply opens two browsers. And also a Open As... window looking for an .exe file (i'm assuming the browser application) which I already told it to. It annoys me but I can deal with it.

danny~!

Yea, happens to me too, 5 minutes of interupted lazy research revealed the answer to me 🙂

Hi there CTho, dunno if you remember me, but I recognize your name 🙂 Probably 3 or 4 years now, HWC maybe, OCN perchance 🙂

From the thread CTHo9305 pointed to:
**************************************
1. Open Explorer
2. Select Tools and then Folder Options
3. Select the File Types tab
4. Select Extension: (NONE), File Type: HyperText Transfer Protocol
5. Click Advanced toward the bottom of the window
6. In the Edit File Type window, select open and click Edit
7. Clear the DDE message box (which should contain "%1" or similar)
8. Click OK, Click OK
9. Repeat for File Type: HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy and FTP

This worked for me.
