Why does F.E.A.R. demo look like ass on my PC? [PIC]

The single player demo seems fun but look at this screenshot.

http://home.comcast.net/~bartalane/fear.jpg

What's up with those edges? Look like the giant sized kids Lego Duplo blocks assembled that image. I have every possible setting on high and have played with every possible combination of in game video options. 3700+, XT1900XTX, 3GB, XP-PRO. Looked the same way on my 7800GT card too. What the heck am I missing here?

Also, the demo doesn't show it in the options but does the final game support widescreen? 1680x1050

Thanks.

Looks like a serious driver bug, im not sure.

Fear looked much better than that on my lowly 6800GT.

Edit: The demo may be limited to lower textures?

I ran the demo on two video cards, one from nVidia and one from ATI, both very recent high end cards and both images were identical. So I can safely eliminate driver issues I would think. I want to buy the game but not until I can get this question resolved.

Do you happen to remember if the game supported wide screen resolutions?

Dude... you installed Quake 2 instead of F.E.A.R.

Edit: :p

Since you're uncertain about WS support, try running in a 4:3 AR?

Yeah that deff looks like Pixel doubling to me. Looks like you just went ahead and enabled "everything" without reading what it does! :p

It looks like you're at 640X480 or have something set weird (eg pixel doubling).

Btw the final version of FEAR does support 1680X1050 (I played through the game on this setting). You need to edit the .cfg file though, it's not selectable natively from in the game. Check the Widescreen Gaming Forum for instructions.

F.E.A.R. does not support 1680x1050 by default. But, it is easy to set it up by editing a single config file. I am playing it right now on a Gateway FPD2185W at that same (native) resolution with an 7800 GT.

Yeah, something's wrong. FEAR actually looked better on my 128mb R8500 than that (not that it looks that bad on a R8500).
