Business Trading Hours Law

Under the Sunday Trading Act 1994 a shop that is less than 280 square metres in size can open at will on Sunday's. However, shops bigger than this can only open for six hours (consecutive) between 10am and 6pm given that:

[*]They notify the local authority
[*]Provide visual signs of their opening hours both internally and externally

All businesses must close on two specific Sundays:

[*]Easter Sunday
[*]Christmas Day (falling on a Sunday)

However, if Sunday is not a regular trading day for your business (say, Monday to Friday was the norm) you cannot pressure staff into working on Sundays. Forcing them to work or sacking an employee for not doing so is a legal offence.

Something about an homage to Satan, would be my guess... What with Sunday being the day of Satan worship and all.
If you don't like the above, too bad. It's my opinion and it's not going to change so get over it. Nothing you say will convince me otherwise so you might as well save your breath (or the life of your fingers in this case) and keep it to yourself ;)

That's the answer in a nutshell. Look up Blue Laws for more info.

So it does come down to letting people be with their family on God's day?
