I've seen several people post that Iraq needs only make the majority of the UN happy to get out of this current mess.
That is not correct.
Iraq must make both the UN and the US happy, or it doesn't count.
The answer to the question of "Why?" is simple...
Those 200,000 troops out in the desert are not from the UN. It isn't going to be the UN that attacks in a few weeks if the US isn't happy with Iraq.
It is the United States that Iraq needs to concern themself with making happy. They seem to have succeeded at making the UN happy enough, but again, that isn't enough...
