Berkeley sucks.... only losers go there!!
William Hung was a student.

William Hung does not represent the average Berkeley student . . . .

At least Cal is better than schools like . . . . . UCI!

you do have a point... in that case, i am referring to the majority of students here, not those precious few who manage to achieve greatness with a winning personality and dashing good looks :D

my question is why must people call cal "bezerkeley"? the campus is just as liberal as any other college campus nowadays.

eh? no, most campuses have a healthy amount of liberalism culminating in fresh young minds eager to try out new perspectives and challenge their intellectual boundaries. Berkeley's brand of liberalism is more or less just stupid.

That's an ignorant statement. Any out-of-whack liberalism you may be branding comes from outside the campus. Remember the proximity to Oakland and San Francisco. Whenever rallies arise that get any local media attention, there's a huge mix of crazy "out-of-towners" pushing their extreme agenda. The students at Cal are as yuppie as USC or Satanford.

dr150's right. the only reason cal has a rep for "protests" is because the crazy people bus themselves there to disrupt student life and get on television for their causes. there are occasional student protests but theyre also led by a minority of students who think its cool to protest (or are crazy too). seriously, i dont know anyone that actually WENT to a protest my entire 4 years there.

I agree with the people that have actually been there. Berkeley sort of just has the rep, but most ideas people have tend to be exaggerated.

On a lighter note...
:D

fvck berkeley, and fvck UC's. I'm out of this state. My out of state tuition will practically be the same as california's in state tuitions.

really? you think tuitions will be the same?

cause thats what my sister thought, and she's paying 4-5x as much as she would have at Cal or UCLA
well of course an out of state school will still be more expensive than an in state, but the gap has never been closer. ASU estimates all costs (tuition, living, transportation, food, books, etc.) at about 20k a year for an out of state student. California is rapidly approaching that figure, especially with rent costs. My sister is at UCI right now... 8k tuition, at least 5-7k for housing, factor in books, parking permits, transportation... unless ASU is severely underestimating their costs, then yes, my out of state tuition will practically be the same as my sisters at UCI

SC is better than the rest. I went to "state" school (calpolySLO) cause I did'nt want to ask my parents for the $ at the time. But if I had to do it over.... But overall UCI is number 1 for asain I think. My brother went there and said 60+%.

hold over idea from the 60's.... perpetuated by the right wing media. makes a good straw whippin boy u know.

but really...back then it was shocking!! shocking! that students could speak out. berkeley lead the way, its a right they fought for so we have it today. much different times. ronnie reagan the asshat sent in 2000 armed national guard troops to meet protesters back then. now its just engineering nerds and whatever like everywhere else.:)
