Why does everyone call Bezerkely Cal?

Another reason is that they try to distinguish themselves from the other so-called "inferior" UCs, now that there are so many branches.:laugh:
That's not true at all. Cal is "Cal" because when it was founded, it was the ONLY UC school. Therefore, when you said "Cal," the ONLY interpretation was The University of California, at Berkeley. The name Cal predates all the other UCs.
Why do people put z's in words where they don't belong? I thought the trend was to shorten words do u c wut i mean.
well, mind you, not ALL UC's are inferior . . .
in fact, its the best college system around
what about UCLA and UCSD?
I believe this is the answer. Before UCLA, UCSD, etc., there was only a University of California. There was no reason to qualify it.

Of course I know that, I was not implying that the other schools are inferior to Cal..but that many Berkeley students think that.
Actually, it seems that Berkeley is more forgotten than LA.. Have you seen LA's admittance rates this year?! Every Asian wants to go to UCLA..lol

the asians i know all went to the elite UC closest to them, ie so cal asians went to UCLA (with the exception of a few who went to SD)

Oh, well yeah, of course, because of their football team, but UCLA is by far more popular for their education.

its around 25%, don't believe the rejection letter. they say "only 4,000 are admitted" when it's more like 10,000 are admitted and 4,000 matriculate.
lol, well i didn't read it from a rejection letter , but from my friend's acceptance letter. she chose Cal instead..
