Why does CTRL, ALT, X maximize a minimized IE window?

For years I have used the shortcut CTRL, ALT, X to open Windows Explorer...and have done so on about 8 different systems. Recently at work I got a new computer and to my horror CTRL, ALT, X is alrady assigned to maximizing the last minimized Internet Explorer window. It will let me go to the Windows Explorer shortcut and set up my usual Shortcut key...but still won't do it.

Typically when you try to set up your Shortcut key under a shortcut's properties and you use an already assigned finger combination it will enact the shortcut as you try to set it...but this doesn't happen for me. I only get the problem as I try to use it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I knew that Alt Space X would maximize just about any window, but didn't know about that one.

Do you really use Explorer that much? Will it work from the desktop?
