Why does cigarette smoke stain everything but not weed smoke?

I smoke and have no idea what stains you are referring to. Teeth? I brush them. Clothes? My clothing doesnt smoke.

To be fair, you may be surrounded by it, which makes you less sensitive. I've definitely seen smokers with stained clothing and teeth even though I know their personal hygiene habits are up to snuff. It could be genetic in terms of teeth, but I'm not sure about clothing and all that.

They say marijuana has more tar but its the cigarettes that stain everything.

The obvious answer should be quantity of smoke. Do you know anyone that smokes 40 joints in a day? How about anyone that smokes two packs of cigarettes?

Not sure on this, but I would think holding the smoke in, such as with marijuana smoke, cools it more and allows the staining compounds to be deposited in the lungs rather than surroundings.

Since this will just turn into a rehash of every drug thread ever here, thought I would hypothesize a bit.

I smoke a lot of weed indoors... no stains. Also the smell doesnt permanently linger like tobacco.

You don't hold in pot smoke, kids do it because it "gets you higher" which is bullshit. Your lungs function extremely well and the THC is absorbed within the first few moments of contact. The only thing holding it in does is make the tars get into your lungs more.

weed smoke sticks just as much as cigarette smoke does from my experience. i don't smoke anything but used to smoke weed 10+ years ago, and i can smell both that and cigarette smoke in people's clothes, cars, anything. so i'm not sure wtf the OP is talking about.

but it is true that most smokers don't realize how much they stink like smoke because they are so used to it. the worst is going into someone's house or car where they smoke with the window up. that shit is nasty but they don't even smell it and/or are used to it.

Fixed for urban myth, which is what I was getting at. I prefer edibles and vaporizers at this point. I remember that saying when I was in high school "You gotta cough to get off"

Not going to debate there are lots of stupid myths around marijuana.

Yea you don't know what you're talking about.

Weed smoke lingers for a small amount of time, like yea the same day they smoked you would smell the weed on them or in their cars. Maybe the next day too if their car was closed. Not long term.

Yet if you were to buy a (doesn't matter) playstation from someone who smokes ciggerettes in their house, frequently, then you could see that playstation stained from the gray the playstation had, plus it would literally have a cigarette stench even years later. Meanwhile if you bought a playstation from a weed smoker who constantly smoked indoors you would never even know it. Cigarette smoke attaches itself to anything and everything and never lets go. Why do you think people list shit on eBay and other places as "from a non-smoker home".

As to the OP who is dead on BTW, its because of all the additives in cigarettes as someone else already said.

That would be silly. The correct number of joints to smoke in a day is six. Two in the morning, two at night, two in the afternoon.

So, you smoke two joints before you smoke two joints, then you smoke two more?

BS. I have friend that smokes weed daily. Everything in his house reeks of pot, things I've borrowed still reek a week later.

I can smell it in my clothes after visiting, just like a tobacco smoker. I no longer visit, I hate washing a jacket just because I've been there.

That may be true, but after a bit of airing out it's fine, and there wont be a yellow/brown coating on everything in the house, tobacco smoke sticks to EVERYTHING and it doesn't air out, it permeates.
