why does AnandTech encourage cheating?

I am refering to the thread in the General Hardware Forum, the one that has been locked on top for a couple of days.

I personally think that AnandTech deserves to win the first place.

I was just wondering why AnandTech is encouraging people to vote more than once? Isn't that cheating?

Why doesn't someone just write a program to vote for AnandTech 10000 times?

That site allows one vote per day or whatever the quota is, and since it is allowed, then it's not cheating to do so, since followers of every site listed can do the same.

If someone were to write such a program to bypass the 1 vote/day thing (or bypasses it themselves), then yes, that's cheating, good cause or no.

Tweakers.net did exactly that, and was in first with over 20,000 votes. Notice that they are no longer listed?

It is not cheating if the participants are working within the parameters established by the site and doing it manually.

oh well, my bad 🙂 Let's hope AnandTech wins the first place 🙂

that's a potential risk for any serious participant.
Any troll with a descent amount of knowledge in programming might ruin the fun for AnandTech.
