Why does Anand ignore displays?

I won't say I agree/disagree with dug, but lets just say I check the frontpage of the site less often that I use to and check other sites more often. ;)

Perhaps you'd like to mention some of these other sites

Basically, reviews are sparse nowadays. No LCD reviews, no mobo roundups. When did they make the last A64 mobo roundup?

MSI was Gold Award for Socket 939 in the second half of 2004. Since then, no tests. Mainly DFI or Asus.

Kristopher promised an article on the Opteron dual cores, even created a thread on the forum. Nothing after that.

And recently a couple of reviews recommended problematic products, like the Asus mobo with ATI chipset, or the Dell 1905FP (good monitor but terrible ghosting for games).

Perhaps they are tired of just reviewing and benchmarking - just want to focus more on tech and more interesting stuff.

I miss the "old times" when Anand would say: get a Celeron 300A and o/c it to 450A with an Abit mobo. Or o/c the P3 coppermine etc etc.
I could always trust and reproduce those results at home.

In the last 1.5 year I bought some mobos and ram that never reproduced the results presented here. Either the reviews are made with Golden Samples and special BIOS provided by the manufacturers. Or I just got old and lost the touch.

I still like here and will keep coming back. But I would like to see some "return to the roots".

I really wish there were more monitor reviews too (by far my favorite hardware). BeHardware/X-Bit Labs/THG have been doing great in that regard. There's too many CPU/motherboard/chipset reviews and too few of anything else. LCDs do seem to come up often in News (DailyTech) though, which is nice. It just feels like they only review a select amount of component types nowadays.

And for the love of Jesus, not to mention, more Linux articles please! It's great to learn something about Linux, but sadly their last article in that section was Jul 1st, 2005. The Forums here are still great though and they're the main reason I'm here (often). I actually happen to like DailyTech too.

Yeah, anymore Anandtech is almost more of a news site than a review site. Seems like most of the articles now are just previews, sometimes with hands on insight, sometimes not. Also, their review articles seem quickly put together and don't seem to offer the same depth they used to. I guess they're all getting too busy to put as much time into it. How long has it been since Anand even updated his blog?

Anand is moving in to/building a new house, so he has an excuse...as far as the rest of staff, I have no idea what they're doing.

Monitors are expensive and generally have long lifetimes, so monitors from several years ago are still good buys. I guess?
