Interesting. A new windshield washer pump and a new Fram air filter both cost about $15 from Autozone for my '95 prizm. You'd think a pump would be more expensive than a filter.

Probably time to replace the air filter on mine though...considering I don't know if it's ever been done (bought the car at 85k, now has 101k). :D

I'm not sure I would buy Fram air filters........ :Q

Your air filter is just as important as your oil filter. Consider them synergenic. If any dirt does get past your air filter.. when it makes it into the oil, your oil filter takes care of it(hopefully).

HEH... I feel.. stupid.

Well, there is a tradeoff between airflow and filtering.

I would suggest a foam filter with prefilter for maximum filtering efficency and airflow.

Because that's how much you'll pay for it.

Haven't you ever taken a basic economics class?

I use the cheapie STP air filters, they seem to perform fairly well and have stood up to our lab tests thus far. Fram air filters from what i've seen in our testing so far aren't that bad, their oil filters on the other hand are teh SUCK. Needless to say, K&N air filters also fail our tests miserably.

Interesting. Guess you can't really infer that one product is sh!t just because another one is.

yeah it's kind of hit or miss with fram. their air filters are good, their extra guard oil filter is bare bare bare bare bones and is too expensive for what it is, the tough guard is the same, the double guard has teflon which is poisonous to your car and also costs too much, and their X2 is what their extra guard should be, but it costs $15.

Not to mention that fram uses cardboard caps inside their filters where as all other manufacturers use metal. I just don't see how cardboard can withstand the pressure and abuse.

Shell out for a K&N, it'll cost more upfront but you'll save money eventually.
