The game developers will probably offer a DX 9 mode for those of you who can't go DX10 for at least 2 years because there's not a lot of people who can afford a $200-300 operating system and $200-300 for a good DX10 video card. Some people can afford that, but it wouldn't make any sense to make a game that most of the people couldn't afford to upgrade just to play, since most people couldn't afford that, and even for those who can, the "willingness to pay" factor comes into question, and what's the point of a developer to spend millions to make a game and then make it to where most people can't even play the game? My base for these facts about a lot of people not being able to afford it on the fact that first, it's not going to be like DX 10 comes out one day and by the next day, all games are DX 10. Second of all, I can prove this because in the GPU world, most of the GPU sales are done in the budget sector, and I'm talking like the Geforce 6200, FX 5200, and Radeon 9200 area(examples of budget sector cards),and if most people can only afford $80-150 for a GPU, why should they be expected to shell out $300-$600 for DX10? I am saying this because you shouldn't worry because no game developer will shut out such a huge base of people.
