Why do you wash your car?

I washed my car for the dumbest reason ever today.

I work as a consultant at a company which owns a chain of tire stores. i'm getting tires tomorrow at one of them, so I cleaned and washed my car. It was embarrasingly dirty.

😱

because i like it when my car looks like this

seriously, why do you even bother getting a haircut? take a shower? buy toothpaste?

your car is an extension of you. what's a matter, can't take the 15-30 minutes to clean your car? gee i wonder what his house must look like

and how can you bring your friends/relatives around with a car that has trash littered all over the place, sticky unknown residue lining the dash, smells that cannot be identified

why WOULDN'T you take care of a car

1) it looks really good
2) that oily film crap that gets on the windsheild after driving behind somone on a rainy day...ew!

why do you eat? You'll just get hungry again.

Because you'd die if you don't. Not the same with your car (although the paint would fall off and/or the body rust)

i'm just messing around.

We try to wash ours every 2 weeks during the summer. In the winter not as frequent, maybe once a month. The salt and dust that accumulates on the car is harmful to the paint job. Our ride is black as well, 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue. So yeah we try to keep it as clean as possible. Don't mind spending time on it at all since the result after you put in the effort makes it all worth it.

For our old Bonnie, we obviously don't wash it as often. After 13yrs, it's already rusting like crazy. Now that it's been totalled and parked in our back yard 100% of the time, no reason to clean it at all.

I use a towel after taking it to the car wash and wipe off the residual dust particles and then wax it up. Looks very purdy 😀

Good points but the outside is what I'm thinking is a total waste. Everything you list affects personel health and heigene and I'm a fanatic since i had a couple micobiology classes in college.

Some good info in this thread about drit and grime affecting paint. Still not sue it worth it..

Why do you shower?

For me that's a differnet issue. Mainly I shower cause I like to feel claen and hate the sticky oils on my body. It starts to ich. But car does'nt ich me or smell me up.

because if you don't for a while, then it gets really stuck to the car, so it is hard to get off at all, so if you do it periodically, then it's easier 🙂

if you want a pure exterior point of view

how the heck do you drive around with the windows all dirty and grimy? sun hits it at the right angle and BAM can't see sh!t. bird crap on your paint? eats right through the clear, gets to the base, becomes part of the paint. got paint chips? water gets on, starts rusting, good bye paint.

and once again, HOW ON EARTH can you stand people looking at your car and going "ugh". it's only human to look at the car, and then look at the driver, and put 2+2 together. you give off the impression that you're a freaking slob.

honestly, does the (4dollars/week) or (30minutes/week) to keep your car clean botehr you that much?

or maybe you jsut drive a black car

I don't know why you people don't wash your cars, but why can't you just let your answer for why you take showers apply to the people that like clean cars: They like it better that way, and feel better about driving it when it's clean.
