The meaning of life is to have as much fun as you can while you can, drink life like a fine wine, make sure every sip fills your mouth with exquisite taste.

Or in not so fancy words, live life to it's fullest, it's all you got.

Because on this planet everything happened just right for things to evolve the way they did.

Ahh, the Anisotropic principle.

Actually, I'm the only one really here. The rest of you are just robots who only LOOK like people. Vonegut had it right...

Everytime someone brings this up, my immediate first thought is:

Why does there need to be a purpose???

Consider a single garin of sand on a 50-mile long beach. What is the purpose of that grain of sand. Is there some "cosmic higher purpose: that that grain of sand exists to fulfill???? Or, (more likely) does it just simply exist - no purpose or meaning required (It is JUST THERE).

Now to relate, we are LESS SIGNIFICANT to the entire universe tha that grain of sand is to the beach.

:)

To kill, rape, torture, maim. Or at least if you're religious.

Otherwise there is no real reason except maybe continuation of the species or amusement of some aliens.

It's really amazing how post-modernism has allowed people to rationalize their lives as a meaningless mess, and they're actually content with that.

It's not meaningless, it's just that some have come to recognize the the simplest of meaning is all that there really is and everything else is just filler. If you ask me, trying to derive more meaning out of life is quite a bit messier and has been the cause of innumerable amounts of pain and suffering, yet some people seem content with that.

Why are we here?
Because we're here
Roll the bones
Why does it happen?
Because it happens
Roll the bones

We come into the world and take our chances
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That's the way that lady luck dances
Roll the bones

Jack -- relax.
Get busy with the facts.
No zodiacs or almanacs,
No maniacs in polyester slacks.
Just the facts.
Gonna kick some gluteus max.
It's a parallax -- you dig?
You move around
The small gets big. It's a rig
It's action -- reaction
Random interaction.
So who's afraid
Of a little abstraction?
Can't get no satisfaction
From the facts?
You better run, homeboy
A fact's a fact
From Nome to Rome, boy.

Actually, their drummer, Neil Peart writes all the lyrics, Geddy just sings them. On top of a being the best drummer alive (no contest, read drummer magazine), yes, you could say he's a philosopher, most Rush lyrics are deep, abstract and yet humanly optimistic.

To have premarital sex, do drugs, and slowly remove all religion from the world.

Looking at the world I'd say more that if there is a god he/she/it is a sadistic little prick who makes Hitler looks like Gandhi.

On a contrary. QUite a few people have been killed in the name of god. How many did he personally kill?

Do not blame that which is not at fault for the actions of those who are.

WE are the
sadistic little pricks who make Hitler looks like Gandhi.

Since we truely have no reason or purpose aside from the possibly of devince ordinance, you would be surprised with the actions of man when he fails to definie himself incorrectly.

I Speak as if all the owrlds evils have been committted by men because for most of existance, man has dominated the women, and for the most part, the owrlds greatest fools have been men.

I am a man. I am however no fool.

The real point of our existance:

Loving God and loving others.

Do this and you will find the purpose of your life.

Everything else will fall into place.

You can give your own life meaning. Giving the Universe a meaning? Different story - it simply exists. What is, is. If you find that amazing, so be it.

Watch the episodes of Star Trek with Q in them - an omnipotent being with a sense of humor. Sure it's fun - if you're the omnipotent one. And from that standpoint, just about everything else doesn't really matter. Wiping out a galaxy is like spraying disinfectant on a toilet seat.

Were you walking because your girlfriend's parents' wouldn't let her come pick you up? :D
