SC inmate recaptured after using antenna in escape

UNION, S.C. A South Carolina inmate who police say used a television antenna in his escape from the Union County Detention Center has been recaptured.

Multiple media outlets reported Wednesday that 18-year-old Solomon Gore of Union was captured a few hours after his escape early Tuesday.

Authorities think Gore used a television antenna to help him clear a fence. Tips led police to a home in Union where Gore was found under a bed around noon.

Gore began a 60-day sentence at the Union County jail on July 13 for giving false information to police and possession of marijuana. He now faces a felony escape charge that carries a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.

Hats off to South Carolina public education for another fine matriculation (and a justice system born of the Dark Ages).

On a brighter note, Union County, SC, unemployment is now 21.4% (the county under the 'ville' in Greenville).

He shouldn't be in Jail, but he should have just stayed there given the small Sentence.

Some pretty damn successful people too...

There's a tide rising against this bullshit, but it's slow going. Lots of stupid people smoking it doesn't help the movement, but it is what it is.

I wouldn't be so sure about that last comment. There are a lot of pot smokers down here. Hell, some areas you can drive by and see it growing wild along the side of the road. If any one state successfully legalizes/taxes it (without Uncle Sam throwing a hissyfit), then some of the more progressive Southern states will follow. We really are hurting for revenue down here...

I think that the image that only idiots smoke is attributed to the fact that it is illegal. Successful/smart people rarely want to project a public image that they participate in something that is illegal while less successful/dumb people don't care about their image.
