Dell laptops showed up a lot in Stargate.I'm all for less conspicuous product placement, but if anyone's watched Bones in recent years, holy shit do they go overboard on plugging Toyotas. Actual marketing lines are put into the dialogue.
I'm glad they didn't make light of it. In one episode, they got some alien technology that substantially enhanced the strength and speed of the main cast. Samantha Carter was using a laptop:
"I'm writing a book on wormhole physics but this damn computer isn't fast enough. When the buffer's full I have to wait for it to catch up!"
Or they could have marketed it better: "I was writing a book on wormhole physics, but the old computer wasn't able to keep up with me. Fortunately, General Hammond was willing to loan me his new Dell Inspiron with an Intel® 3.1GHz Core™ i7 processor, so now I'm able to finish the book and still have time to catch up with friends on Facebook!"

Ugh, every time I make up a hypothetical marketing or advertising scenario like that, I feel dirty.
