Why do you like your Nvidia or 3dfx products

I like my V3 3000 coz I got it for 45bux, and it still gives me 70+FPS at 800x600 in Quake3

I'm sick of this nonsense. I want a Vidcard that handles everything well. Why do I need to acquire a BS in PC's to understand the endless strengths and weaknesses of Vidcards made by the Four Biggies, and hundred little co's.? Let there be ONE biggie. We're already getting the shaft from myriad monopolies. One more. How bad can it be?

I agree that nVidia is more inovative then 3dfx. I man they try more to come up with products that will suite their fans more not like 3dfx that charge ur arm and leg for good performance. And depends what u use the card for.....no 32bit color on a 3dfx. i believe that nVidia has better picture quality then 3dfx cards, they are much sharper. Btw 3dfx came up with the first 3d card and now they think they own the freaking world........dont like them that much, its like me not liking Microsoft, just personal taste 🙂

3dfx cards now have 32bit color(V4, V5 and everything after that), and the LOD bias sliders make things sharper as well...
I also didn't spend an arm or a leg on my V3, just 45bux with the VA deal and the 3dfx mail in rebate. Even without those deals, an average V3 costed, and still costs less than an average TNT2.

Anyway, that's not the point of this thread. The title of this thread is "Why do you like your Nvidia or 3dfx products", not "Why do you hate everything else but your Nvidia or 3dfx products", so let's keep it at that.

Well my reasons for Nvidia are different than most people. They have the fastest card on the block(in relation to price) for professional 3d applications like Maya and 3dstudiomax. $150-200 can get you near wildcat($3K-4K) performance for a tenth of the price. Pretty damn good.

Toxicrage, if you don't like 3dfx just because they offered the first successful 3D card and somehow consider them akin to microsoft, maybe you need to take a closer look at Nvidia. After all, nvidia just filed a lawsuit against 3dfx for some kind of patent infringement or something. With 3dfx's current cash position and stock price, it looks an awful lot like the Creative vs. Aureal scenario all over again. Sue them into oblivion! Sounds like both Nvidia and creative have studied microsofts hardball approach to business very well. I like 3dfx products because everyone of them I have ever tried has worked great right out of the box!

I like ATI, because they make the most well rounded cards. But I wish they'd have better driver support.

I like 3dfx because it gives me constand fps in any game including FPS from EPIC or I.D. and now the LOD slider makes the picture quality much better. I've had several Nvidia cards and it gave me nothing but trouble. 3dfx in other hand, all you do is plug and play a game. I just wish 3dfx voodoo 3 series had the option to play in 32 bit color but personally I rather play my games @ 1024x768 16 bit than 640x480 32 bit.
