Why do you click "Start" to shutdown Windows??

That's a stupid question. It's not the "start the computer" button. You're starting the process of shutting down.

Perhaps, but this question has often been used as an example of a Windows usability flaw.

I alt-f4 to shutdown.

there is a registry hack that lets you change what it says instead of start. you have to do it in Hex and it has to be 5 letters long.

I believe that's in the file explorer.exe, not the registry.

But one thing kept getting kicked up by usability tests: People booted up the computer and just sat there, unsure what to do next.

LOL!!

lol.😀

On the one that lets you do any amount of letters... could I change it to absolutely nothing? Personally, the windows logo is enough for me to click... If I leave the space blank or just but in some whitespace will it display nothing?
