I don't care to argue, I'd rather vent! If somebody cuts you off, do you jump out of your car and argue with them? NO, you vent! When a salesman lies to you, do you argue with him? NO, you vent! When somebody does an inferior job that you paid for, do you argue about it? NO, you vent!

I don't vent without expecting some kind of results. Either you piss off the other person as much or more than they piss you off, or you get an apology or your money refunded... some kind of result! If I KNOW I'm right, I ain't going to argue if I can help it. You present the offender with irrefutable proof of the truth of your position, then look for some results.

Because a group of members on this site are close-minded about everything.

Ha ha. The funny thing about the statement is that it means you assume your own views are correct...

...which is pretty close-minded in itself, no? :D

if you're asking whether the arguments on AT resolve anything, I think you've answered the question yourself.

human argue because we're not sure about something. if we are absolutely sure about what we say, then there is really no point in arguing.

1) I learn from the discussions, to argue a point you must be well informed about your viewpoint. To debate against a viewpoint you must study their side. I have learned a lot but I must say that I havn't changed many views.

2) It's a lot more fun than another AOL type chat thread.

Peeve, the cowards that throw out their views and then say "don't bother replying because I don't care what you say" If you want to enter into a debate at least have the courtesy to develop your thoughts and then be willing to defend them. We don't need the childlike flame wars, just a good honest no holds barred debate. Those are fun.

There's nothing wrong with a good old-fashioned flame war either, they just don't really do anything except entertain.

The butterfly that flaps its wings in Africa may cause a hurricane in Florida.

When you want the door to hear, speek to the wall.

We know absolutely nothing and so we don't know that.

He who reaches his wits end is ready to take the first step.

<< To combat the ignorance of the political left...truly a crusade to better America. >>

Crusade is a dangeous word, though it is perfectly fitting for the Religious Wrong's "crusade" of applying their neo-Puritan views on everybody's lives, wanted or unwanted.

Ooops. See how it starts? :p

And HotChic, I cannot pick an option from your list because I feel several apply.

Very well put. How come there's no big arguments going on right now? :)

I don't really argue. I just tried to share some truth that is sorely lacking here. But in the process I get into with people who really aren't to bright to begin with. ;)

Im sure this means something, but anyway. This is a predominately male forum. Males tend to fight for dominance more than females (although I grant there are exceptions) This forum satisifies that need for conflict without bloodshed. Also ain't it just a whoopass fun time? :)

<< I don't really argue. >>

Sure you don't.

<< But in the process I get into with people who really aren't to bright to begin with. >>

Of course, it's not your fault. It doesn't matter that you like to fire off an insult with every post...the problem is with everyone else. The sad part is that you act as if you believe that.

Most of the posts you make are just bait for the opposing viewpoint. As soon as they respond, you can scream about "prejudice" and "bigotry", and just fuel the hatred on both sides. That's all you're really after though, isn't it? Who wants progress when it means we have to open our minds?

You're a race-baiter and a bigot; and the perfect example of what is wrong with "race relations" today. It doesn't matter what side of the debate you're on...attitudes like yours are the biggest obstacles to real equality and better opportunites for everyone.

<< Why do you argue on ATOT? >>

Because it's fun. It's good mental exercise, it improves my typing skills, and it sharpens my arguments. On a rare occasion, I might even learn something from being opposed to another point of view. Once or twice, I actually might have changed my mind about a particular issue :Q

Good flame wars are my favorite to read, though. I'm not afraid to offend, or afraid of being offended, so I'm able to enjoy the humor in them ;) Watching the ignorant get all riled up is always a blast :D
