Why do women wear high heels (pumps) in church?

About a decade or so ago i tagged along with the wife and went with her brother's family to a Catholic church for Easter Sunday. I was sure my presence would be felt in some form or another, like spontaneous combustion, or at least the can a kerosene going off. Anyway, while I am NOT a religious person of any sort, I spent my time in the pew looking around at all the well dressed MILFs, teenage daughters, etc. and noticed something that I found very odd. There were all wearing sandals and pumps with three inches or more in the heels.

Now, I understand the function of the heel in a woman's pump, which is to reorient the leg muscles and push up on the derriere to make it more visually appealing, but in CHURCH? On Easter SUNDAY? Not that any time would be considered appropriate, in my non-religious book, but I found this too strange. I think I first noticed it on the way into the church, then while inside and a lot more as we hung out after the service, watching others depart like a chorus line of hookers. I mean, how can one fault me for drooling over the wives when they present themselves in a manner to cause the drool in the first place?

BTW, does God like a visually appealing (e.g. eye candy) ass from his followers? Inquiring minds want to know.

BTW2, I know there are other inappropriate places and it isn't exclusive that a church would seem like the only place.

Well the term Sunday clothes does come from somewhere doesn't it?
People just put on their nicest things when going to church and in this day of age this includes nice heels for women.

Lots of people want to flaunt what they have, whether it's wealth or beauty, at any public occassion possible. And church visits are no exception to that.

This. I've been to church about 3 times in my life and I always assumed that it was semi formal dress there, and for women that would include heels if wanted.

You must of never hung around catholic school girls when you were younger. I don't know if its the seperation from dudes in high school or just being rebellious against the church stuff but they're sluttier than public school girls.

rh71 is right. The women are not dressing up for God, but dressing up for the single guys that also go to church (or just want to look good in general at the social occasion that church is for some).

Going to church is a social event, not just a religious one for many if not most people.

Agreed, however they are also dressing up for each other. According to my GF dressing "fancy" is a competitive thing lol.

Fancy and function are not the same. Flats provide a function, too, but just not the function of lifting one's butt up for the purpose of advertising it like a cat in heat. Also, I doubt flat shoes are absent of being fancy. He folks, I am not a religious person and I've been to church two in my entire life. It was just an observation. The wife dressed for the second time I went and she was fancy and in flats. I guess dressing up for another single is one thing, but those married ones ...

I'm a wee bit concerned for any cats in the OP's neighbourhood. One minute he's drooling over "hookers", the next minute he's referring to them as horny cats.

:worried:

I've never seen a non-religious person get offended for God than the people attending church.

It's the perceived hypocrisy. There's little more irritating than people that make stupid rules, claim they follow them, and then don't; all the while judging others. It's dishonest anarchy.

Why do women wear high heels at all I think is a better question.

Less mobility, more discomfort, screws up your body and then there's the tendency to ruin your day on stairs, escalators, etc.

I think 99% of women look pretty stupid walking in high heels. Want to snag a guy? Show him you respect your body and don't need the approval or competition of other women.

Vanity and stupidity?

Frankly I'd rather see a fit woman in a pair of cross-trainers

Vanity definitely, I think height augmentation for some. To be fair though, I know women who look at heels the way I do a tie. Only to be worn in time of duress or obligation.
