Why do women care so much about Shoes?

Women buy things to emphasize form, men buy things because they function. She buys a floor because it looks nice and I buy it because I want something to walk on.

My coworkers just gave me a "thank you" for a project I worked on by buying me a new pair of shoes to replace the 5 year old black sneakers I'd been wearing even though they had a hole in the bottom for the last three months. I was delighted because I didn't have to go shoe shopping.

I guess I don't count?
 
I'd date a woman based on her shoes. Interesting fact, the most common fetish around is the foot fetish. That often extends to enjoying the feet in nice shoes.
