Why do white people love trucks so much

Honestly there is nothing I like more than a truck that looks beat up over the years and has all the look of it being put to good use.

But I notice especially among white people that a truck is a must have maybe just to maintain some sort of though guy image? I'm not talking about actual work trucks but the ones with the spotless truckbed that obviously never carried or hauled a thing in its life. Especially that SUV/Truck Hybrid. I see so many of those on the streets now and its obvious that none of them has performed their trucklike duties

I mean those people with the "Oklahoma/Texas/Kansas Cowboy forever" stickers on the back of their truck. My last roommate drove a truck, but he grew up on a farm so I can understand why a truck was usefull for him. His Silverado was gloriously beat up. When he moved to california he asked me why people here buy trucks to march them around like Benz

I don't know anyone with a truck that doesn't use the bed at least a few times a month for things a car/wagon just wouldn't suit. You gotta have at least one person in your local family/friends that has a truck IMO...

Homeowners tend to own trucks more often than non-homeowners. Need I follow the logical progression? 😉

I don't follow. I'd figure a larger percentage of renters would own trucks compared to homeowners.

Id figure homeowners would have more money, thus they can buy more stuff they dont need (like a truck).

because trucks are cheap for people who don't have children, and are reasonably durable, and can haul stuff from ikea once in a while?

one of my prof's sold his M5 for a toyota tacoma. i suspect that he simply can't afford gas and maintenance on his M5.

Yeah, but renters move more often.

Lol, so he buys a truck for better gas mileage? Your logic eludes me 🙂

Yeah, but renters move more often.

So

$50 uhaul beats a $40,000 truck

Today I towed a chipper home behind my F250 PSD. Tomorrow it will be a backhoe.
I don't see a renter needing either.

M5's get crappy gas mileage and have sky-high maintenance costs.

I keep an oldish truck ('93 Toy 4x4) for the utility use. It's not even a daily driver, but it's indispensable for hauling, yardwork, camping, fishing, mtn. biking, etc.

he sold his V8 M5 for a 4-cylinder truck for gas milage doesn't make sense?

Nah, that sounds alright. I envisioned something slightly less economical.

Homeowners do more renovations. Hard to load a bunch of plywood and 2x4s and other such stuff into a civic

That's what I was thinking. Try bringing home a load of sand in your Prius.
