Why do we never hear the term Yellow man?

:music:I got in a little hometown jam
And so they put a rifle in my hands
Sent me off to Vietnam
To go and kill the yellow man:music:

I hear White man, black man, etc..., why no yellow man?

Because its only OK to call Caucasian people by their color. If you call any other race by their true color, it's racist. Example: state standardized tests ask you for your race. They list Asian American, African American, Mexican American, Pacific Islander American, etc, then at the bottom it has a choice for "White"😕

What if you're a person of color (I hear that's ok to say, at least, the minority affinity groups at work use it) but not an American citizen? Which box do you check, then?

Reminds me of my South African buddy, a white guy, always checking the African American box. Definitely drew some questions once when he was applying to college, but the explanation was pretty air tight. He was born in, and a citizen of, an African country.

Yellow man - three syllables

Asian - two syllables

It is a matter of convenience and the fact that nobody is really colored in life like Homer Simpson...

That's because "white" people live in South Africa, Australia, & former Soviet states.

OMG you feel my pain. As a white man I am so downtrodden by the term. as I drive my 30k car to the 'burbs every day I just shake my head wondering if the injustices will never end. /sarcasm 😛

In all seriousness... i don't know ANYONE who gets up in arms about being called black, brown, etc. it's all about the context. usually if someone is saying it in a positive way "oh that guy is black" no one will care.

Also to the OP - I hear a lot of my Asian friends use the term yellow... but they are very politically active in the Asian American community so I don't think your average Asian from the burbs is gonna use the word.
