I've always wondered about this. I just left the mens' room and while washing my hands I happened to look up into the mirror...and jumped back about two feet. Fugly dude staring back at me with these Raccoon-circles and little bags under his eyes.

Where do they come from and why? Edumacate (sic) me!

here is what a google search came up with

<< Bags were meant to be worn on our shoulders, not under our eyes. So why do we get bags or dark circles under our eyes?

Fatigue is the main reason for this, which probably comes as no surprise since our lives are consumed with family, work, and our over-flowing social life!

Did you know that your skin rejuvenates itself whilst you are sleeping? By applying AlphaCeuticals Eye Crème, or Eye Gel before going to bed you can help to reduce bags and dark circles.

AlphaCeuticals Eye Crème and Eye Gel both $24.75

LOL, Czar! I ask a biology question and you try to sell me some Mary Kay Cosmetics! :D J/K Seriously, I look like crap. It would help if I got more than 4 hours sleep per night. :( AND I'm working another 18-hour day today. Hooray. Money's great, though. :D

I have always had those dark circles as well and wondered why lots of sleep has not helped much.

My daughter is 3 and gets good sleep and naps during the day, she has the same (not as dark) circles.

Everyone says "You can't deny her as your daughter".

bags=gravity/loss of elastin elasticity and collagen rigidity over time. it is just sagging skin.

color=?sunspot patterns develop due to an accumulation melanin (skin color pigment). this is also time/age related, though not dependent, of course.

btw these are guesses

Sagging skin? Oh, great. At this rate, I'll be able to downhill ski on my eyebags by the time I'm 40. :Q

Still no definitive answer on the circles, though.

Well, that WOULD make sense; I've had pollen/cedar/dust allergies for many years now. I take Flonase every day (miracle stuff, that Flonase)

Great. So, I'm stuck with big black eyebags that I'll be able to downhill ski on by the time I'm 40. Greaaat News.
