Why do Video Games Endings Suck now adays!!!

Do you realize that there have been very few good endings to a game recently.

To name a few
Halo 2
Half Life 2
Doom 3
etc.

The only ending i liked in the past year would be
Painkillers

Studio's are always thinking on future games rather than the game that matters. Im sure if they had a crazy ending in HL2 that seemed to seal the game from sequals, they would have no problem coming up with a way to bring in one, instead they loeave it incredibly open

Isn't that a matter of opinion? I rather liked Half-Life 2's ending. It worked well.

I can see arguing against the lack of endings some games have where you beat the final boss and it's just "the end" or something. Far Cry would fit in that category where the really wasn't much of an ending.

Like Final Fantasy Games have closure. Halo 1 had closure, The suffering had closure, Star wars jedi knights had closure

KOTOR2's ending was probably the most dissapointing ending i've ever come across.

I STILL don't know wtf happened, and frankly I don't even care

oh and i'm about to go play mercenaries right now. Getting great reviews, but there's no story to it, so I'd stay away if I were you 😀

I didn't feel like FFVII had closure.
I agree that HL2's ending sucked, but haven't seen the endings for the other ones you're talking about.

Video Game endings have always sucked. Do you remember 1942 and Karnov for the Nintendo? 1942 said "Congratulation" and Karnov said "Thanks for playing", and that was it. Games like Pac-Man, Pol Position and Galaga had no endings at all. If you want an ending play an RPG.

PS, I liked Max Payne 2s ending.

I NEVER FINISHED MAX PAYNE 2. hMMM. mAYBE I SHOULD

Endings are generraly rushed. The fact is, the ending won't help in selling copies. The introduction is the inverse, its one of the thing player will see and as the most potential of boosting the selling. This why we usually have a good intro and a piss poor ending.

Sad but enevitable.

THat's what I was going to say. Aside from a few rarities, the ending of a video game rarely seems to justify what it takes to get there, and this has been true since the days of PONG.

I played 1942 every chance I could as a kid.

Max Payne 2 was such a great game to play. That's the way it should be done. They're not having any problems making a sequel.

I think traditional adventure games have much better endings than FPS. Probably because they're not [ususally] trying to set up a sequel.
