I'm currently a college student and have a paper assignment involving analyzing an electronic community. I heard about anandtech from a fellow classmate. I would like to know why you use anandtech, how this community has affected you, and how you expect it to change. I appreciate your responses.

Because someone here probably knows the answer to what you are looking for. And, there are always interesting threads going on.

Yup. Same here. Tech answers, heck, even life questions answered here in very little time.

To share my wondrous and joyous opinions with everyone else, of course. 😉

And, to help people if I can, chew the fat, shoot the breeze, learn a bit and just generally goof off!

(serious answer for you)

Some of it's entertainment, like here in Off Topic... or I visit the other forums (General Hardware, CPU's and Overclocking, Video) it's either for technical help, or to help others, or to share and experience that may help others, or share what I've learned about something new.
The only way it's really effected me is that I spend more time at the computer when I get caught up in discussions, I wouldn't say it's changed my personality at all. Although it has added to my already enormous wealth of knowledge 😀 hehe.

Because I can listen to music and do someting at the same time.
Because it's fun and probably not very hazardous to my health.
Sometimes I can even ask for tech advice.

cuz its a fun place to be, and just about any question on computers or anything else can be answered here

Well, I originally came to anandtech to do research for a college assignment involving analyzing an electronic community.

Actually, I started looking in the hot deals forum for a year or so as a "lurker" Then I posted one or two hot deals that I had found. Eventually, I ran into computer problems and received help in the hardware forum. In the meantime, I ran across the Off Topic forum and discovered it was a great way to kill time when I couldn't do anything else, plus the .00001% chance of meeting a hot babe who's also smart made it all the more worthwhile. (In my opinion, the people in the anandtech forums tend to be smarter on average than a random cross section of the population at large - plus the population at large includes people too dumb to even get on these forums - people I'd rather not deal with anyway). Oh, and the highly technical forum occasionally has threads that are really interesting.
