Why do u prefer Nvidia or AMD?

I prefer AMD due to better image quality and the fact that they don't OPTIMIZE with game developers to get more framerates. AMD uses computational power, not money and influence to get FPS.

Image Quality is subjective, but I see a difference in color saturation and sharpness. Just like IPS monitors > TN's.

When is the last time you saw a game preview say "Made for AMD!"

A lot of people have different experiences with different cards... some may be due to the many different systems/rig configurations that may make some people prefer one or the other due to issues or conflictions with firmware/software... I have no preference because I have used Nvidia and AMD/ATi the past 15 years... just right now I have a Nvidia because it works in my system and is near flawless so far... I have an AMD card in my work PC and its working flawless...

Both Nvidia and AMD has done funny stuff in the past to increase performance for benchmarks and reviews - they both are not total angels...

Right now I just prefer Nvidia because my experience is better than AMD at the moment... if AMD comes out with something better in my opinion then I may get one of their cards...

Ba ha ha ha, they both do that. They would both lie to their grandmas if it meant getting favourable press and thus sales.

I buy whoever makes the best card. I am really underwhelmed by the 7750 and 7770 - both are slower than the 6800 series cards they replace, and about the same price. But the 7800 and 7900 series are good.

Nvidia's GTX680 is probably the best card of the current gen, I am pretty keen to see the 660 Ti and 670.

The best card for the masses is 7850. For enthusiasts it is 680 but it was so late that most people already have a 7970 and it isn't worth changing for 2-3% performance difference which isn't even there in each game.

Pretty sure Deus Ex: HR was sponsored by AMD. I'll start up my copy when I get home and check. Can anyone else confirm?

Nvidia for their very good image quality (PhysX, AO, downsampling, AA bits) - with the exception of SSAA@DX10/11 currently due to the lack of LOD adjustment. I like the very good SLI support and the fact that Nvidia at least tries to combat microstuttering...something that AMD has been woefully ignoring for years. And I think their software support due to dev relations is excellent. If they optimize, I get more fps and that is good.
Last but not least: Their commitment to true high end (at least up to the 680...). I hope that doesn't change.

Amd's super sampling AA is the best. Nothing else comes close.

Nvidia drivers ARE better.....(compatibility with 99% of games)

The supersampling is on par on DX9. In DX10/11 it is less blurry, yes. But that will change due to the LOD petition, hopefully.

Hundreds of games are "Made For Nvidia" though. Game developers taking some money to optimize for inferior hardware.

For me: AMD (superior hardware)
Nvidia (superior drivers)

AMD does optimize for 3dmark benching, as does Nvidia.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 had alot of advertisments with AMD/ATI... every time I boot up Saints Row the Third it has AMD logo before the game starts...

I would say they both do about the same in terms of optimizing particluar games, sponsoring and marketing - they have to... in business terms its call "marketing development fund." It also helps splits the costs in marketing if the GPU brands pair up with game makers to promote their products...

It is called business...smart business and smart marketing... if they don't do it they are leaving alot of opportunities on the table to grow their exposure and brand...

i haven't had issues with either brand, i pretty much flop back and forth between the 2 depending on who has the best bang for the buck, last few cards

i only got the 7970 since the gtx680 is impossible to get w/o a 100+ markup right now. if it were available i probably would have got the 680

Phys X? Not relevant. Or needed.

Nvidia run cooler? One model does, the 680. Although it can't oc much at all. A few 7970 models run about as cool as the 680 though.....Sapphire + msi.

All the other nvidia video cards run hot......

Last Nvidia card I bought was the 9800 GTX about 6 yrs ago.

This is a thread asking people about their preferences. You cannot ask people what they like and then attack them for it.

I prefer nVidia on the basis that I use Linux often & I have in general had a better experience with the drivers. While I do agree that PhysX isn't much, it's better than nothing. I do get the feeling that AMD still isn't entirely sure about how it wants to go about 3D, not that I care for it much.

I do however buy both every upgrade cycle so I can experience both firsthand (1x 7970, 2x7850 CF & 1x 680 2GB, 2x 560Ti SLi (replacing with 660Ti/670)). For HTPC I prefer AMD but that will change soon via GK106/7 as the 5750 1GB currently inside is showing signs of failing.

My brother uses Linux and prefers Nvidia for the same reasons as DeathReborn.

I do give props to Nvidia for creating the 680 though. Finally made a powerful card that is efficient and runs cool.

I don't know at the moment. I have a GTX 260 which I have been waiting furiously to upgrade. I did love AMD's better performance per dollar in the last few years but this gen has really let me down in that area. I do think Nvidia has come out strong in terms of raw performance with Kepler. I just can't fathom paying that much for a GPU (from either company).

Right now, AMD. They make very good graphics cards and they're a less shifty company than NVIDIA, IMO. They also give you a better ability to tweak your graphics cards, so if you overclock and undervolt their cards their efficiency almost matches NVIDIA's while having compute performance as an extra, if you're one of the few that cares about that.

Don't mind, u honestly don't play enough games if u can't find gaming evolved titles.Deus ex hr,darksiders,dragon age 2,dirt 3 are all gaming evolved titles.

Had very bad experience with Nvidia hardware (bumpgated 8800GT, 8400M, nForce) so I'm not likely to buy their stuff again. (Although I suppose they are unlike to make that mistake again...)

So I it's AMD for now. Before my experience I didn't have any opinion either way, although like LOL_Wut_Axel said I did think that Nvidia were shiftier even before I bought the 8800GT and maybe that should have been a warning. A company which comes across so arrogantly is not good.

Not someone who takes much notices of 3D rendering / image quality so that doesn't bother me and as far as I could tell my old 8800GT and my current 5770 have pretty much the same IQ.
