Why do TV commericals for online poker websites...

it would be illegal

so they just advertise their free site, the one with .net

then they wait for you to forget the .net and put in .com and go to the real gambling site that is illegal

it is how they get around the law, they pretend to advertise for the free "entertainment only" .net site, but they know people will end up at the real illegal gambling site

Ahh, gotcha. I didn't even realize that they're actually advertising their .NET counterparts. Sneaky bastards.

wow that is quite devious! I had no idea.

There was a 60 minutes special on this not too long ago. Since then, I've seen like 10x more commercials advertising poker sites 🙁

It's gotta be nice for the people who play a lot on them but I hate to say it, but the golden age of online gambling is about over.
And I know a few people who will need a new job since they make a living doing it now.

Because Uncle Sam wants a cut. But he can't get it without legalizing gambling in areas where it is currently illegal.
I mean, it is already illegal to gamble online for money in most areas. But soon here the goverment will start enforcing the laws. I would imagine they would just crack down on the payouts somehow.

They're working towards extending the Wire Act to include online gambling. Punishable by five years in prison. Way to go government, going after the "real" criminals of the world, those damn poker players. Such a menace to the safety of the world.
