it looks like 50% read a thread out of boredom, but I guess that's kind of relates to why someone comes to AT forums in the first place, and not exactly why they choose a specific topic thread to read. So I removed that answer (no offense to the previous voters), the remaining answers are more specific as to what kind of threads are being read the most often.
 
i read atot to find interesting/funny threads... bashing, jokes, interesting news/events/things i haven't heard of before etc

in this case i'd have to say interesting subjects

bashing is fun to see once in a while but that's n ot the reason why i visit here
 
It depends on the forum. If it is one of the technical forums, it could be anything from the subject interests me, or I potentially know the answer. If it's OT, I just read stuff because I'm bored.
