Why do those crazy Canadians say "zed" instead of "z"?

Some Canadians I know just got a 350Z and they say it 350Zed. They were also talking about the Z06 and called it the Zed06. It's very common for Canucks and many English to say that.
 
maybe it derive from French? you know, languages borrow a lot from each other... and Canadians speak a lot of French and English just like AMericans speak English and Spanish

FYI, zed is derived from the greek "zeta". American English is the only dialect I know of, in whech "z" is pronounced "zee" and not "zed". Canadians aren't the ones that changed it, Americans are!

Canadia is the proper spelling for a country where the people call themselves "Canadians". If the country's name was spelled "Canada," then the people there would call themselves "Canadans." Since they call themselves "Canadians", it's only reasonable to spell the name of their country "Canadia." After all, people from Germany don't call themselves "Germanians" do they?

For those of you who went to public school in the U.S. and haven't heard of Canadia before, it's a small, third-world country just north of the United States. Once you learn to understand their peculiar dialect of English, it's not too hard to converse with Canadian natives.

Canadia is a poor and sparsely-populated country where up to 98% of the citizens are alcoholics. Most Canadian citizens have government jobs where they are paid to say "Eh?" all day long.

I say it "zee" because most of the other letters end that way. Aee, Bee, Cee, Dee, Eee, Gee, Pee, Tee, Vee...Zee!

Hell, I really don't know, all I know is that when I was younger my cousins and their friends would get me to say the alphabet and then chide me for saying "zee".

Ok Zed sounds retarded. Sounds like some hicks name.

I could understand saying either Zee or Zeta. My co-worker is exmilitary and he will often spell stuff out in those characters. "Four Alpha, Three Beta..." etc.

Zed would be like saying Bed when pronouncing a single B. Aye Bed Ced Ded Ed Ef Ged...
