Question Why do the same programs appear on both C and D? How can I safely remove the copies on D?

1. I never deliberately installed programs on my D. Thus why do some programs appear on both C and D?

2. How can I harmlessly remove the duplicated (on both C and D) programs from D? Please see screen shot below.

3. As you can see below, I have merely 1 Windows installed.

Did you upgrade to a new SSD and clone your drive to the new SSD?

If the answer is yes then you can format D and use it for additional storage. Otherwise sync the 2 drives with a copy and then format D.

No. I never touched or upgraded the hard drives since purchase. My drive C is a SSD. Drive D is a 5400 RPM HDD.

What do you mean by "sync"? Please explain like I'm 5. I'm computer challenged.

Looks like your old HDD has an old Windows install on it, and there are old folders left on there from before.

Maybe it is an automatic backup of the "c" drive. Check the documentation that came with the computer.

At some point it could be the drives were paired Raid 1. Maybe it came configured that way and they turned it off for more storage
