I don't see why this is a big surprise. It's been known for decades anecdotally.

By being tall you automatically have confidence. This confidence leads you to excel. This leads you to be more succesfull than small people. We all have met the guy with a the "little man" syndrome. And no matter how much he tries, he is still the little man and shall get no respect.

Next in the Captain Obvious news flash "women with nice breasts tend to attract more men".

I think this is somewhat true for management positions.

A tall guy as a manager has that stature where it implies confidence and stability. When you tower over somebody, you implicitly exert dominance and intimidation over others.

However, I don't think this article apply to engineering positions or any white collar positions that is technically driven, because in those jobs, most of your work doesn't require social interaction. Company could care less if you are 8 ft or 4ft if you are a software engineer sitting behind a cube all day long.
