To me this seems to stem from a far more serious problem that women have. And that problem is for some reason they think men can read minds. I'm not sure why so many women have come to this conclusion but it is very sad. Notice the women didn't just say, "hold the elevator.' Instead I think she tried to send you a mental picture of you holding the door open for her while complimenting her how her shoes look great with her handbag.

I would have had no problem holding the door open if she was hurrying to the elevator and yelling for me to hold it, but she didn't. Instead, she was rude.
